12 May 2008 - Shelley's B-Day and Catching up: Shelley has reached the big THREE-OH!!! She has said that she still feels 29 though. So, what else has been going on... Well, on a short break, Shelley came up to MSP, and we were able to grab her 30th Highpoint just in time for her 30th Birthday, Eagle Mountain, MN. We also hit up Fort Ord Dunes State Park. Then, there are some other pics I have to share. First up, is a roadway seen in Texas, then a flight case of an Airbus driver, a quick view of the Mesaba Airlines training center as seen from final approach to runway 30R at MSP, and some nice aircraft spotting shots from various places. And we shall finish up with the greatest gas station in the entire world.
27 Mar 2008 - Pictures Update: I have a few photos here that should make for good sharing material. As you know, I did get a new lappy and was somewhat forced to deal with "Winders" again. I was happy being a Linux-boy and I will be one again in the future. Especially after seeing crap like this. I have images from the line to share as well such as, the Washington Monument, the blimp hanger at Moffett Field, the St Louis Arch, and a really nice sunrise. In other news, I noticed a really interesting item in the store the other day called Batter Blaster. This is simply pancake batter in the same can you get ReadyWhip in. I was intrigued. It's quite straight forward. Just squirt it in a pan, flip em, and that's it! All in all, they were OK. Not the greatest, but not bad at all. Personally, I think they were awesome considering the sheer simplicity in using just one single pan. That's it. The ideal item for the single man! The Easter Bunny was seen at MSP last week running around the snow covered ramp delivering candy to various company employees. Funniest part to me, was that he was using, of all things, a Lav Service Cart as transportation. LOL!
20 Mar 2008 - 24 Hours on the Move: Wow... that was a long day. My last 4-day trip was pulled off my schedule for someone else's IOE. (that's been happening a fair bit lately...) Anyways, that puts me on 24 hour callout. I stay home, but the phone can (and usually does) ring. Then, I have to be in the plane at MSP 24 hours later. This time, they called me in for a two day trip. After getting home from that, they called me back in, for ONE turn. Just fly from MSP to Montreal and back. That's it. Thanks so much for that. So, at 3am, I left home. My route was as follows. Salinas to San Jose to Minneapolis to Montreal to Minneapolis to San Francisco to San Jose to Salinas. Almost exactly 24hrs on the move, and for that time, my average speed was 204.5 MPH! I'll be napping lots today... Zzzzzzz
4 Mar 2008 - Some Good Pictures: I just needed to share a few pictures. First, we have an Airbus A320 that was passing underneath me in cruise. I was treated to a great site of the classic 747-400 taxing past on the ramp at DTW. Then, there was this bar in the terminal at DTW. Then, to cap it all off, Shelley and I found this BBQ sauce at the grocery store this evening... And, here's a great site about cooking for dorky people like me called Cooking for Engineers!
1 Mar 2008 - An Update!!!: OK! The first update of the year! Yeah, I know... It's March. Oh well. Without further delay, let's start the rundown. Shelley announced the results of a recent science project with the following statement: "Hey, I grew some grey hair on an onion!" Those just aren't words you hear everyday. We also checked out Minneapolis over a weekend. Most notable were the Minnehaha Falls. Also worth mentioning is this road we found. And, this one! We also made time to check out the Mall of America, where Shelley found some really big Legos. One other thing that I need to share was this very well versed Recycling Sign. I've been flying with a pretty cool Capt named Steve Christoff. Some of you may remember that name from the 1980 Olympics. Pretty neat. A good buddy named Mike Vanmeter came to visit and announced his top secret future plans! (more on that in the coming months...) Shelley and I have made two recent hikes of Soberanes Canyon. Both kicked our butts, but that's OK. It's good to get back into shape. Another good buddy named Big D stopped by as well! We took him to Soberanes and he grabbed this really cool picture. And, this one as well! Shelley and I took him to various cool places, including our awesome wedding location! I've also been happy to see all the Meyer tanker trucks sporting the new logo that I kinda designed. Shelley and I also made some curtains! And, a few pics from the line to finish out. First is a neat shot heading into New Orleans, over Lake Ponchartrain. A pic of the forever famous 747-400 at Detroit. I think that about covers it. Whew!
